Wim Bos (1906-1974) - Havengezicht Rotterdam
油彩、畫布 - Hand signed - Ca 1950

Willem Bos was born in 1906 in Rotterdam. He also died here in 1974, after a productive life as an artist. He lived and worked in Rotterdam, Brussels, Antwerp and Paris. In 1924, he returned to Rotterdam.
Wim Bos was self-taught. In Rotterdam, he was not only inspired by the loading and unloading operations in the harbour and the shipping traffic. The work of well-known Rotterdam painters such as Van Mastenbroek, Evert Moll and Marinus Drulman also stimulated him to pick the harbour’s activities as a frequent topic. He developed his own impressionist style, which is closely related to that of Marinus de Jongere. His harbour views exude that typical atmosphere of the pre-war harbour, with coal firing, screaming steam whistles, rattling anchor chains in the hawsehole, and squeaking and creaking cranes and loading beams. The canvas has a small damage but that can hardly be seen at the front (see the photos).
The item will be sent in a custom made crate to avoid damage. Pick-up in IJmuiden is also possible.
